Cause

After checking, there was no permission on raw disks for oracle account to access  (For my case, the raw disks are /dev/rdsk/emcpower*)

Fix

1. Login all nodes as root

2. Change permission on all /dev/rdsk/emcpower* to 775

# cd /dev/rdsk

# chmod 775 emcpower*

Opatch auto doesn’t patch RDBMS Home

September 4, 2013 Leave a comment

1. 11gR2.0.3 GI and RDBMS HOME information

RDBMS HOME=/opt/oracle/product/11.2/db_2

GI HOME=/opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid

2. Apply the patch

# cd /export/home/oracle/patch

# $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch auto ./ -ocmrf ocmunconfig.rsp

Executing /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/perl/bin/perl /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/OPatch/crs/patch11203.pl -patchdir /export/home/oracle -patchn patch -ocmrf ocmunconfig.rsp -paramfile /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_params

/opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/crs/install/crsconfig_params

/opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/crs/install/s_crsconfig_defs

….

Successfully unlock /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid

patch /export/home/oracle/patch/16619898 apply successful for home /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid

patch /export/home/oracle/patch/16619892 apply successful for home /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid

CRS-4123: Oracle High Availability Services has been started.

Cause

The opatch auto retrieves the db home information from the configured databases. So, if there is no existing database, then “OPatch auto” will skip that RDBMS Home while patching.

Fix

/opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid/OPatch/opatch auto ./ -ocmrf ocmunconfig.rsp -oh /opt/oracle/product/11.2/grid,/opt/oracle/product/11.2/db_2
